FROM WASTE TO ENERGY – A JOURNEY OF PRIDE

The Thang Long High Tech Municipal Solid Waste to Energy Power Plant project in Phu Lang commune, Que Vo district, Bac Ninh province, invested by Thang Long Environment and Energy Joint Stock Company, is one of the key works reflecting the strategic vision and strong determination of the company to accompany Bac Ninh province in addressing urban waste sustainably.

With a total processing capacity of 600 tons per day (including 500 tons of municipal waste and 100 tons of industrial waste) and a power generation capacity of up to 11.6 MW, the project applies technology from Finland, including the world leading advanced waste to energy incineration system from Valmet Technologies Oy for electricity generation, along with a waste processing line provided by BMH Technology Oy.

On November 30th 2021, TTCL Vietnam Co., Ltd officially commenced construction. Throughout the implementation process, TTCL Vietnam made relentless efforts, closely coordinating with the Investor and related units. Every stage, from design and procurement to construction, was strictly controlled to ensure progress and quality commitments. Notably, the project achieved 1,374,591 safe working hours, with no occupational safety incidents  a truly remarkable achievement.

On March 26th, 2024, TTCL Vietnam completed all construction and installation work, ready for the trial operation phase. The ceremony for the construction completion certificate was honored by the presence of Mr. Jussi Halla Aho, Chairman of the Parliament of Finland; Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee; leaders of Bac Ninh province, including Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh People’s Committee; along with Finnish Members of Parliament and leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

On May 29th, 2024, following persistent efforts on the construction site, TTCL Vietnam in coordination with PECC8 successfully energized the 22kV transformer station and transmission lines, officially connecting the plant to the national grid. This milestone is not only a major technical achievement but also a testament to the responsible, prompt, and professional spirit of the entire team.

By May 2025, the Thang Long High Tech Municipal Solid Waste to Energy Power Plant was officially recognized for commercial operation. This event marked the complete fulfillment of the project, the culmination of years of effort, confirming the strong commitment of the Investor and EPC Contractor to deliver a modern, sustainable facility with a significant impact on the community.

On this important occasion, the Investor organized a closing ceremony to reflect on a challenging yet proud journey. During the event, the participating units shared experiences, evaluated the results achieved, and discussed optimal solutions for the operational phase to ensure the plant operates efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

Today’s achievements are the shared pride of the entire TTCL Vietnam team – individuals who have overcome challenges and dedicated themselves day and night with the highest sense of responsibility. Each milestone of the project reflects their dedication, expertise, and unwavering aspiration to excel. This journey will continue, serving as a driving force for TTCL Vietnam to advance confidently and achieve new successes in future projects.
